Most of all keep your head up when things go low. And, no matter what happens, your day could always be worse. A break down is a break down and you've just got to suck it up and look forward to the next weekend. Just keep working hard at it and never...never give up. If you want it that bad, you're just going to have to go get it. That's my main thing, going and getting it, and I still go by it today. I still haven't accomplished the things I want to accomplish and I'm still going to be working hard at it every day just to get it.
The youth rider that stands out in my mind today would have to be Jeffrey Rastrelli. I've been riding with him down in Florida and he's looking phenomenal. He looks good on a big quad, but he'll still be in the Youth classes this year. He's keeping up with ProAm riders now on a big quad. He's flying.
I've been at the races and have become close to his family. His dedication and stepping up to big quads at his age, well, in a couple of years, I know he'll be coming after me. He definitely has what it takes to become a top Pro. The kid has drive and dedication. He just loves the sport and, like I use to look up to other Pros, he looks up to me. I appreciate that and it makes me want to help him even more.

Mostly...have fun. That's the number one thing. Also, keep your family involved in it because that's the backbone of our sport...family. Keep them involved and keep a positive attitude. You're not always going to be out front and winning all the races all the time. Just stay focused on your goals, work hard and have fun. And, it'll come.
My main point of focus is for Youth riders to not ride over their heads. The changes are so much these days and the kids are doing so much that we weren't doing a few years back. Don't ride over your head. You're not going to get any faster sitting on a couch with a broken bone. So, get that into your head. Ease into it...and it'll come.
Listen to what your momma and daddy have to say. That's a lot of it because I've been through it. Basically, it's a family atmosphere and your momma and daddy get you where it's at until you make it to the levels where you can make money and make a living doing it yourself. One of the biggest aspects that I had that I never thought about when I was coming up until now, not being able to race and all, is definitely my families involvement and how they helped me get to where I was at. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be here.
Train hard, focus and be careful. Don't get hurt early in your career. Remember, you're only 4 to 15 years old so you've got time to get fast. You have a long career ahead of you and by keeping your head on straight, you'll be right up there with the best of them.
My advice for keeping your head on straight is to don't get distracted with girls, drinking, getting involved with the wrong crowd and becoming misdirected. Keep focused. And, above all, enjoy it.
Make it fun for yourself and it'll all come together one day. Ride places you like to ride. Find jumps you like to do. Practice on the things you like to do and that'll keep it fun for you. It's worked for me for a lot of years.
